The music of Riga Groove Electro is based on jazz and funk  traditions influenced by great stars as John Coltrane, Miles Davis Electric Band, James Brown, Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, Joe Zawinul, Elvin Jones, Pat Metheny, Ornette Coleman, Eddie Harris etc.

The members of the band have fused these influences with their own backround of jazz and classical music.

Riga Groove Electro has projects with different soloists. At the current one the soloist is the most requested and flamboyant vocalist in Latvia. Estonian Aivar Vassiljev is guest instrumentalist on drums.

Some great days in LONDON

I started playing saxophone when I was 13. Few years later I’ve joined Edik Israelov’s Jazz Big Band. During the 1988 – 1990 period I’ve played with Gogi Nakaidze’s quartet where I was Tenor saxophone soloist. At the same time Ive joined the Givi Gachechiladze’s Big Band. In 1993 I’ve moved to London and began playing with London’s greatest musicians. I’ve played with Jim Mullen, Robin Aspland, Jim Watson and Tristan Maillot. At the same time I’ve took lessons from Jean Toussaint at the London Guildhall School of Music. In 1999 I’ve collaborated with Valery Proletarski (arranger, producer, programmer, sound engineer). At present I’m playing in London.
